SUMMARY:Pressbooks Around the World: Open Publishing in Practice Across Europe
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a global conversation on open publishing in higher education\, featuring Pressbooks partners from across Europe. In this panel\, leaders from the University of Groningen (the Netherlands)\, the Technological University of the Shannon (Ireland)\, and HfH Digital (Switzerland) will share how they are building and scaling open publishing networks to support various publishing initiatives. \n\n\n\nEach panelist will showcase their Pressbooks network and highlight key projects\, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how open publishing is being implemented in different national and institutional contexts. We’ll explore why each institution chose to launch a Pressbooks network\, the types of publishing they support\, and how these platforms are advancing institutional goals around openness\, access\, and teaching innovation. \n\n\n\nAttendees will hear what each team is most proud of\, lessons learned along the way\, and what’s next for open publishing at their institutions. \n\n\n\nSome key questions we’ll explore: \n\n\n\n\nWhat does Open Education mean to you?\n\n\n\nWhat are effective first steps for introducing Open Education initiatives at an institutional level? \n\n\n\nWhat strategies can support the reuse and adaptation of existing materials?\n\n\n\n\nWhether you’re just getting started with open education or looking to scale an existing program\, this session will provide practical insights and international perspectives on building sustainable open publishing infrastructure. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n \n\n\n\n\n\nThis session will be recorded\, so if you can’t make the listed time—don’t worry! All registrants will receive a link to the recording. \n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the Panelists\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nSarah FrédérickxHead Digital Innovation\, Hfh Zurich \n\n\n\n\n\nMargreet NieborgHead of University of Groningen Press\, University of Groningen \n\n\n\n\n\nMaura FlynnOpen educational resources librarian\, Technological University of the Shannon \n\n\n\n\n\nCeline PeignenHead Librarian\, Technological University of the Shannon \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVisit the Networks\n\n\n\nExplore what each institution has published using Pressbooks
